Description

We are Daniel Brown Law, a Toronto criminal defence firm that defends every type of criminal charge across Ontario, including impaired driving. Our 17 lawyers act at bail hearings, trials and appeals across Toronto, Peel, York, Durham, Halton and the rest of Ontario.

A drinking and driving charge reaches well past your licence: your job, a professional licence, a security clearance and your ability to cross the border can all be affected.

Impaired driving defence in Toronto

We defend impaired driving, over 80 and refusing a breath sample charges, three separate charges that can come out of a single drinking and driving investigation. Each is proven differently, so each has its own defences. Most DUI cases in Toronto turn on how the breath evidence was obtained: the timing of the breath demand, the approved screening device procedure, Charter issues at the roadside and the reliability of the readings. Every charge also brings an immediate 90-day administrative suspension, so we explain the licence side from the first call.

How we work

We get involved early, from the first sign of an investigation through to trial or appeal, because the sooner we act the more options there are. We defend clients at every level of court, up to the Court of Appeal for Ontario and the Supreme Court of Canada.
